We love to cruise on Azamara ships because they are relatively small compared to the behemoths of other major lines. Azamara’s four ships each welcome up to 700 passengers. The ship docked next us in Naples, RCCL’s Symphony of the Sea, carries 6680.
Big ships do offer spectacular stage shows and concerts, while smaller lines like Azamara offer selective shows in an intimate setting, many times reflecting the ship’s destinations.
Last night’s after dinner show was a great example. Two famous (at least in Italy) opera stars, soprano Alessandra Tanzi and tenor David Righeschi, wowed guests with a sensational concert of opera classics and Italian songs. Weather forced the show inside, instead of under the stars on the pool deck as planned. That setting would have been magical but performances were in no way diminished. Proving again that often times smaller is better.
