DUBROVNIK'S ANCIENT WALLS

The highlight of our Dubrovnik visit was
            the awe-inspiring walk along the city's an‐
cient walls, a timeless structure that bears
witness to over a thousand years of history.
Construction of these massive stone walls
began in the 7th century and over time
these ramparts evolved to defend the city
from various threats, including invaders and
the relentless pounding of the Adriatic Sea.
These walls serve as a tangible connection
to the past, allowing visitors to follow in the
footsteps of generations who watched the
            city transform.
Just getting up the city walls was a chal‐
lenge, especially on a hot day. It's physi‐
cally demanding if you're not in great shape
and not recommended for people with mo‐
bility issues. However, once you make it to
the top, it's a relatively easy one-mile stroll
            past watchtowers, fortresses, and turrets,
