                                                                  The jungle was quiet that night. As I stepped out of
                                                                  the shower and toweled off, the only sounds I
                                                                  heard were the occasional distant call of a "bark-
                                                                  ing" deer and the tapping of moths against the
                                                                  glowing lantern outside my room.

                                                                  I needed a mini-vacation badly. Too many
                                                                  months of isolation had gotten to me, and in
                                                                  spite of the great green cathedral in my back-
                                                                  yard, Central Park, I wanted a quick getaway,
                                                                  an antidote to burn-out, I insisted on a place
                                                                  which would not require a plane ride and a
                                                                  place on the water, as lakes, rivers and oceans
                                                                  always sooth me,.

                                                                 “Oh, is it the one with the kittens and mittens?”
                                                                 my husband asked as city guide Michaela Muhr
                                                                 began to talk about the Sound Of Music while
                                                                 we walked through the streets of Salzburg. Un-
                                                                 known to me, as a child, he used to watch it ev-
                                                                 ery year for Christmas however, most Austrians
                                                                 don’t have any idea what Julie Andrews’ fa-
                                                                 vorite things are.
