18 DISCOVERING THAILAND
Our farewell dinner is about to begin, I
glance down the table at my 13 fellow trav-
elers. All have journeyed with my husband,
Ron, and me across Thailand, from
Bangkok to Chiang Rai, on a tour with
Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT).
88 BUDDHA, BÁNH MÌ & BEER
Da Nang, dubbed the "Miami of Asia," wel-
comed me with cold beer, pristine beaches,
$1.50 Bánh Mì sandwiches, infinity pools,
Himalayan salt massages, and long naps
that felt almost sacred.
