Here, we first confronted some of the physi-
cal challenges of exploring Cappadocia. Even a
mountain goat might have struggled up these
steep ramparts - few stairs, no handrails, lots
of gravel. We got about halfway before drop-
ping out, just outside the cave where wine was
stored. (Now empty of course!) The rest of our
group, most half our age, trooped on, while we
slip-slided back to the cafe at the base. There,
Ron nursed his wounded ego with a cold beer.
