Indeed, the five-year-old Koningsdam is
             stylish and well maintained, with tasteful decor,
             lots of comfortable sea-view nooks, and state-
             of-the-art entertainment venues. Our veranda
             stateroom was spacious, the bed and bedding
             were first-rate, and the glass-encased shower
             was the best we’ve experienced. The lighting
             was exceptional, with interior-lit mirrors,
             reading lamps, and motion-triggered floor
             lighting for safe nighttime bathroom visits. The
             crew was professional and friendly, almost
             without exception, but the biggest, most
             pleasant surprise was the outstanding food and
             drink.
                 Our dining experiences on the Koningsdam
             matched any we have enjoyed at sea over the
             last two decades. The ship offered a wide range
             of outstanding dining options — from our most
             excellent cheeseburger and fries at the Dive In
             by the Lido Pool to the exceptional Asian
             cuisine at the beautiful Tamarind specialty
             restaurant.
                 Holland America recruited seven top chefs
             for its Culinary Council and charged them to set
             a higher standard of food service, from buffet
             to cafes to specialty dining.
