On the front porch, a vintage wicker sofa and
two matching chairs invited visitors to sit and
contemplate a bank of saffron-colored day
lilies. But what lay beyond Frost's modest home
proved more enticing—a narrow dirt path
known as The Poetry Trail disappeared through
the surrounding woods. The quarter-mile trail,
            surprisingly, remains relatively unknown to
            outsiders.
A moss-covered boulder and a small apple or-
chard occupied the back garden. Hesitant as to
which way to turn, I opted to enter the cathe-
dral of trees beyond and follow the Poetry
Trail. A flutter of leaves in autumnal shades of
yellow, crimson, and gold settled around me as
            I inhaled the chilly air.
