The heat doesn’t keep visitors away
from the Valley of the Kings.

at the Valley of the Kings while he
recovers from and unknown bug.

But chambers and fresco-lined entry tunnels remain, and
18 tombs sprawled across the valley floor are open for visit-
ing some on a rotating basis. Three are included in the ad-
mission ticket price; additional fees give you access to more
and allow you to take photos. (The most famous – King Tut’s
tomb –though is off limits to photography.) Because tour
guiding isn’t allowed in the tombs, Mohamed shared with us
his suggestions before sending us off, annotated maps in
hand, across the glaring sands in groups or on our own.
