Food & Drink

Normally, all palates and pocketbooks are easily
satisfied at the Village’s bars, restaurants and
cafes. Unless, that is, you’re in the middle of a
worldwide pandemic. It’s too bad we couldn’t
knock back custom cocktails with a view at Flow
restaurant. Or try Southern-style vegan fare at
the Fog Eater Café. We would have loved to taste
short ribs and bouillabaisse at Trillium Café. Or
enjoy the dive bar quirkiness and a draft beer at
            Dick’s Place.
But we did enjoy a cold beer with excellent fish
and chips and one of the best clam chowders we
had on our road trip at Patterson’s Pub. This
eatery is a fun, folksy Irish hangout in a quaint cot-
tage offering gourmet pub grub and craft beers.
The inside bar was closed, but the two patios were
            open for al fresco dining.
Another must-visit is to Frankie’s Ice Cream and
Pizza for hand-scooped candy cap mushroom ice
cream. We did, and it was the best mushroom ice
cream we’ve ever tried. Actually the only one.
Sweet like earthy maple syrup and creamy, well,
            like ice cream. Yum.
