At first, the park didn’t look like anything spe-
cial - scrubby brown grass, few shrubs and no
trees. But, as we found, each trail led from one
spectacular view to another one even more dra-
matic.
Some revealed views of massive rock arches
carved by wind and sea. Others revealed hidden
grottoes, and some led to white-sand beaches.
It’s a scenic wonder. It’s easy to see why Men-
docino Headlands attracts not only hikers and
sunbathers, but photographers, painters, and
travel writers as well.
