hen we disembarked at the
Bologna train station we
feared we had made a mis-
W take. Gritty. Grimy. Grungy.
And that was our first lesson. Bologna
does not go out of its way to impress you.
But impress you it will. And it did. Bologna is
very comfortable being underrated, and
very comfortable in its rose-colored skin,
the city’s predominant hue.
