226 HOLLAND TO ENGLAND BY FERRY
And so, that's how we found ourselves aboard the
Stena Britannica, a mammoth ferry launched in
2010 that each night links The Netherlands with
the U.K., carryimg a cargo of long-haul trucks, cars
and as many as 1200 passengers, many of whom
were driving and others, like us, who were “foot”
passengers. A sister ship, Stena Hollandica, also
plies this route. Between the two, they offer two
crossings each day, one overnight.
