138 A STROLL THROUGH VIENNA

When thinking of Vienna, you might imagine
hearing the clip-clop of horses’ hooves on the
                              cobblestones, envision elegantly dressed people
on the way to the opera, and start yearning for a
                              piece of delicious Sachertorte.

        146 INDIA

Why India? Some friends asked when they
learned of our plans. Not on my bucket list,
they said. Hot, humid, crowded, polluted,
spicy food, land of extremes from impover-
                             ished slums.

        162 THE ENCHANTED POETRY TRAIL

I felt like a voyeur pressing my nose against the
                             cottage's ill-fitting-screen. Through the window
streaked with dirt, beyond the impressionistic
veil of cobwebs, I distinguished a small wooden
table topped with a vintage oil lamp and a manual
typewriter. My heart pounded as I peered inside
the Frost Place, the home that had once belonged
                             to Robert Frost
