Bologna


                                                                The city of porticos, Bologna sits at the in-
                                                              tersection of most rail lines in the North
                                                              thereby making it a popular city to travel
                                                              through. However, it is worth stopping to en-
                                                              joy, in particular for its imposing and unfin-
                                                              ished Duomo (in front of which films are
                                                              played throughout the summer), its “two tow-
                                                              ers” (which includes Garisenda, a tower that
                                                              leans more dramatically than the more fa-
                                                              mous tower in Pisa) and the oldest university
                                                              in Europe. For those more adventurous,
                                                              Bologna is also home to the portico of San
                                                              Luca, the world’s longest portico. Covering
                                                              nearly two and half miles uphill to the Sanctu-
                                                              ary of the Madonna of San Luca, your efforts
                                                              will be rewarded with a commanding view
                                                              over the city and surroundings.
